GoFundMe for 5 Year-Old Esther Park of Ambler Killed in Truck Accident

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family of 5 year-old Esther Park of Ambler, tragically killed in a multi-vehicle truck accident on the Northeast Extension last week. Esther’s GoFundMe page was set up to help the family pay for Esther’s funeral costs as well as medical bills the family incurs.

As reported by The Morning Call, last Tuesday around 4:00 p.m. the Park family was returning from upstate New York where they were visiting relatives. As traffic slowed in the southbound lanes of the Northeast Extension due to an accident ahead, a box truck rear-ended the Park’s car. Esther and her two siblings, an older brother, Aiden, and sister, Irene, were all sitting in the back seat. Esther died in the collision and her two siblings were injured. Esther had just finished kindergarten at Maple Glen Elementary.

Truck Accident Rear-End Collisions

Rear-end collisions are often very serious accidents. This is especially true when a truck is involved. When an accident occurs involving a truck, whether it is a tractor-trailer or a box truck, the weight of the truck, especially if it is loaded, is significantly heavier than an automobile. Therefore, an impact at any given speed is far more damaging than a lighter vehicle. The force of the impact will cause greater damage to the vehicle and often more serious injuries to the occupants in the car.

Electronic Control Module (ECM) critical to truck accident rear-end collision investigation

An investigation is being conducted by State Police to determine the cause of the accident. Since the accident involves a truck, the investigation will include downloading the Electronic Control Module (ECM) from the truck to possibly determine the speed of the truck through hard brake event data.  The State Police will also interview witnesses. Distracted driving will most certainly be a consideration in the accident investigation. The truck drivers’ cell phone records will be reviewed for evidence of distracted driving, as investigators work determine why the truck rear-ended a stopped or slowing vehicle. The police will also review the truck driver logs for compliance with truck driver hours of operation regulations. Another consideration will be a mechanical failure of the truck, including its’ brakes.

Finding the right attorney for a truck accident collision

The operators of commercial vehicles are controlled by federal regulations that are not the same as the typical state motor vehicle regulations.
